FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 25, 2023
Champaign, Illinois – Julie King, King Business and Patent Law, PLLC, Champaign, Illinois was recently named to the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council. NSBA is the nation’s oldest small-business advocacy organization and operates on a staunchly nonpartisan basis. King, a recognized leader in the small-business community, particularly through her work on the boards of the Champaign Country Bar Association, East Central Illinois Women Attorney’s Association, and Women’s Entrepreneurial Network of Champaign County, joins the NSBA Leadership Council alongside other small-business advocates from across the country as they work to promote the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.
“As a small-business owner, I see daily the importance of being involved and active when it comes to laws and regulation, staying knowledgeable about and speaking to rulemaking bodies about things like the Corporate Transparency Act, Trademark Modernization Act, and Unleashing American Innovators Act,” stated King. “Joining NSBA’s Leadership Council will enable me to take our collective small-business message to the people that need to hear it most: Congress.”
King founded King Business and Patent Law in 2017. Prior to that she worked in the securities litigation division at Alston + Bird in Atlanta, where her interest in litigation support software led to her pursuit of a master’s degree in computer science and admission to the Patent Bar. She also worked as a consultant for asbestos bodily injury and Superfund cleanup reinsurance firms for Integrated e Solutions in Chicago and assisted her father, Peter Feuille, with his arbitration and mediation practice. King is passionate about intellectual property law and educating business owners about how it integrates into and is a crucial part of a business’ entire life cycle. Outside of the legal and business worlds, she is often found at concerts or proving it’s a good thing she became a lawyer instead of trying to pursue a career as a musician. She is also active in service to The University of Illinois College of Law and on the board of directors of the alumni association for University of Illinois Laboratory High School.
King joined the NSBA Leadership Council as part of her efforts to tackle the many critical issues facing small business, including tax reform, regulatory restraint, health care costs and how access to capital will impact small business. The NSBA Leadership Council is focused on providing valuable networking between small-business advocates from across the country while ensuring small business a seat at the table as Congress and regulators take up key small-business proposals.
“I am proud to have Julie King as part of our Leadership Council,” stated NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken. “She came to us highly recommended, and I look forward our coordinated efforts for years to come.”
